Christ the Lord is risen today - tune; Easter Morn
The tune - Easter Morn - for this famous Easter hymn tune is from "Lyra Davidica" ("The Harp of David"), a collection of hymns published
in 1708 by John Walsh, John Hare and Peter Randal. The collection was mostly compiled from translations of German or Latin hymns.
The words are from the pen of Charles Wesley (1707-1788), brother of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement. His influence on modern Christian worship is significant; Charles Wesley wrote more than 6,000 hymns, many of which are still included in the hymn books of many Christian denominations.
This hymn is sometimes confused with "Jesus Christ is risen today" and the tunes - Llanfair and Easter Morn - are interchangeable.
Both are available from The Sheet Music Stack, so feel free to mix and match.
